Blue bricks knitted baby afghan

 








Beauty of this pattern is that it is reversible .It looks same from both sides.


Material required: 


A pair of  knitting needles     US   no 6,  UK  no 9

one chrochet hook of size 4mm

Blue knitting yarn  ( Bernat  Brand  3 balls)

white knitting yarn

Measurement  :  32"  by 42"

Cast on 150 stitches


This pattern consists of squares knitted by six stitches and six rows hence called bricks.

1st row:    *   Knit 6 and pearl 6  *  till end.Last six stitches will be knit

2nd row:    *  Pearl 6 and knit 6*  last 6 stitches will be pearl

3rd row :       like 1st row 

4th row :        like 2nd row

5th row          like1st row

6th row :       like    2nd row 

7th row:      * Pearl 6 and knit 6*    repeat till end

8th row:      * knit 6 and pearl 6*


  This way a pattern of knit and pearl blocks will form alternately   like in picture  2

Each block is of 6 rows and six stitches

There will be 5 white lines of two rows of   knit only after 10,5, 5 ,5 and 5 blocks .

1st white row will be after 10 blocks

2nd  and 3rd and 4th and 5th   white row will be after 5 blocks each

In total 35 blocks have been knitted  with 5 lines of white in between.


Border:


With a chrochet hook and  blue yarn  start at the corner

 and make* half chrochet. three chain *  throughout the  four sides of the afghan.For making half chrochet once between the gap of two blocks and then in the middle of block..These chains and a haif chrochet will give a frilly look to the border
